Our friends and neighbors are who we count on to support us in times of need. I will fight tirelessly to make sure that our communities in West Jordan and across the state have the resources that we need to stay strong in times of crisis. I believe in the strength of Utahns and I will work diligently to represent that strength on Capitol Hill.
As a single working mother, I understand the difficulties that many members of our community face when trying to access basic healthcare. These challenges are now even clearer as our healthcare system deals with Covid-19. I support affordable, quality, and consistent access to health care for all Utahns so that we can all be safe, healthy, and able to participate in our economy.
Working families are what keep our community thriving. As your legislator I will make job security and fair pay for all Utahns a priority. Well-paying jobs and strong businesses allow us and our communities to succeed. It is my goal that every person in the state will have access to a secure job, a good home, and time to relax with friends and family.
Our children are our future. I strongly believe in providing our parents, teachers, friends, and family with the resources that they need to help raise thoughtful and capable individuals. Education, both inside and outside of the classroom, provides a valuable life resource, and I will work to make sure that our children have access to safe, clean, and engaging spaces to learn and grow.
Our district represents two of the fastest growing cities in the state of Utah. This growth is an opportunity, but it also creates challenges. We need a representative who understands our community and demands smart, safe, and constructive investment in the future of our neighborhoods.
Parks and open spaces are a place to unwind and reflect. They increase the value of our homes and are a place for our children to play. I believe that everyone should have easy access to parks and open areas. As your representative, I will support projects that create clean, beautiful places for us and our families.

About Diane Lewis
My name is Diane Lewis and I’m running to be your Representative in the Utah House of Representatives.
I was born in Rockford, Illinois, the third of four sisters. After graduating from high school in Inglewood, California I co-owned several businesses. I was married to a Farrier (horse-shoer). We owned horses and I did competitive barrel racing. I also co-owned a pool and hot-tub store where I did the bookkeeping, payroll, sales, and everything else that goes into owning a small business.
I moved to Utah when my first granddaughter was born, so I could be in her life and be closer to my son. I’ve lived in West Jordan for 16 years and love our mountain views and my neighbors. People in West Jordan look out for one another. They’re the type of people that have your back and know that you have theirs.
After I moved to Utah, I started working as a union representative of working families with LiUNA!, the Laborers’ International Union of North America. I negotiated to assure good wages, secure benefits, and better working conditions. I developed more work opportunities for our members and I was a spokesperson for them at the Capitol. As the Secretary Treasurer of the union, I was responsible for our financial records and reports, and I made sure we spent our money wisely and efficiently. I was a Trustee over our Health and Welfare plan and our Pension Fund, where I made sure our members received the best plans and investment options.
Like you, my life experiences have made me who I am today. I listen with no judgement, to hear concerns and ideas. I am a skillful and experienced negotiator and leader. I understand the importance of listening to all sides so I can consider the whole picture and can make the best decisions for everyone.
I’m running to be your State Representative because I know how hard we work to make a better life for our families. I’ve seen that some legislators don’t understand that reality. We need people on Capitol Hill who are willing to work together for the good of all, not just for special interests and personal gain.
I am a skilled and effective advocate for secure, sustaining jobs and healthy communities. My greatest accomplishment is raising my son to be a caring husband, father, son and an amazing human being. As your Representative I will bring the perseverance, determination, and courage that I’ve developed in my life to keep West Jordan a place where our children can grow into happy and productive people.
My name is Diane Lewis. I’m a Utahn, your neighbor, and with your support, our Representative on Capitol Hill.
